COBAS CONFEDERATION
Without compromise against the G8</h1>
Friday, July 20 National Strike!
From July 20 to 22, the leaders of the richest countries in the world: Usa, Japan, Canada, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Italy, and the former "enemy" Russian, will convene in Genoa for the G8.
Nobody elected the G8, which make crucial decisions on economic, social, military, environmental policies that affect the whole planet. Along with organizations such as the World Trade Organization, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the NATO functions as a world government that, without any democratic control, decides on the future of the entire humankind.
The owners of the world are getting more and more used to establish their control over the living beings by means of wars and other merciless instruments.
Commodification as well as the pursuit of profit affect nature, life, food, air, water, ideas, and feelings . As a consequence, poverty, the destruction of the environment, the poisoning of food, and global insecurity are spreading all over the world.
The contradiction between capital and labor is confirmed and deepened despite the "modernization" of the capitalistic production and exploitation.
The income gap between the fifth poorest and the fifth richest countries has climbed from 1:30 in 1960 up to 1:74 now. The 225 richest families of the Earth are worth more than 1000 billions of dollars, which equals the income of the 45% of the population of the planet. In the world, while a child dies of hunger every three seconds, work incidents kill every two seconds.
Now more than ever, capitalism oppresses the working class pushing forward lowest salaries and degrading work conditions. Many Italian and Western companies export their production toward the East and the South of the world, to Romania, Albania, Thailand, and China with working days lasting between 10 and 15 hours for wages between 13 and 28 cents.
Sweatshop conditions now become legal.
The rule is insecurity, neo-slavery, flexibility, lower salaries, and work incidents.
The workers has to be a decisive component of the rallies in Genoa against the G8 predators.
Saturday July, 21 there will be in Genoa a great rally against the owners of the world.
The COBAS have proposed that the workers of the French multinational Danone, who are fighting lay-outs and the capitalistic reorganization, lead the rally.
We will be more than 100.000 and we will not be stopped!
We won't accept either the cage of the red zone or to the jail of the suburbs ghettoes!
The owners of the world are defying us: we must be up to this challenge in Genoa and after Genoa!
ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE!
We want to suggest some points of reflection about the new market of work in order to invite all the antagonist realities and the self-organised trade unions to meet and confront themselves.
We think that comparing contents could be the way of building a national point of reference which goes beyond the G8.
