Prozeß vertagt (14. April 2003) Am 14. April fand der Prozess gegen den Anarchisten Grigori Thomopoulo statt und wurde sofort vertagt. Grigori wird vorgeworfen, während einer SchülerInnen-Demonstration am 15. Januar 1999 in Thessaloniki einen Molotowcocktai geworfen zu haben. Bei der Demonstration wurden Banken, Gerichtsgebäude, Büros von Abgeordneten und JournalistInnen von den SchülerInnen angegriffen. Die Anschuldignungen gegen Grigori basieren auf der Aussage eines Bullen, der ihn 13 Tage nach den Ausschreitungen wiedererkannt haben will. |
5 arrested in France ( 5. April 2003) Today afternoon, five french activists from "No war, no borders collective" [*] have been arrested in Lille (north of France), as they were trying to interview workers and director of the local Barclays bank agency. 3d english bank, Barclays take part to the capital of three war machines and six petrol companies, including General eletric (B 52's, patriot missile, and so on) and Boeing (Apache). Each time an iraqi is killed, Barclays make profits. The five arrested people are accused to have filmed a few minutes of interview attempt in the bank. They're now free, but we don't know if Barclays will require charge against them. Honduran prison riot kills 86 inmates ( 5. April 2003) A fistfight at a prison in northern Honduras escalated into a riot Saturday that left 86 inmates dead and dozens of prisoners and guards injured after the prisoners set fire to their mattresses and furniture, authorities said. An unknown number of inmates escaped before authorities regained control of the complex three hours later. Flames quickly engulfed one of the three wood and corrugated metal buildings of the El Porvenir prison in La Ceiba, a port city 220 miles north of Tegucigalpa, the capital, prison spokesman Leonel Sauceda said. Jose Cahuati, the director of a nearby state hospital that was receiving the dead and wounded, said his staff counted 86 bodies. |
