Socialist Party Chairman, Fatos Nano, received in the Party Residence, the delegation of the German Bundestag, composed by deputies Eberhard Brecht, Peter Ranschebah etc., who are paying a visit to our country and realising contacts with the Albanian political forces and top authorities. After the occasional greetings, Mr. Nano thanked the serious preoccupation of the international factor on holding free and honest elections in Albania and asked the concretisation of this preoccupation through as much as possible massive participation and presence of the international factor in monitoring June 29 elections, in order to realise real free and fair elections, what the Albanian people are expecting for years now, and to revert people's confidence to the free vote and to put into operation the elements of democracy in Albania.
Talking about the current crisis, which is not overpassed, but, on the contrary, has severely provoked the process of its solution, it is blocked, on purpose, by the president and parliamentary institutions, as an outcome of the stolen votes of May 26, 1996. He underlined that Socialist Party and all the other opposite forces, starting from the left to the right wing spectrum, interested in free elections, are trying hard to avoid manipulations and blood-shed danger, are determined in the lift of the state of emergency and the change of the closing time of the electoral process. The fulfilment, so far, of these overpopular demands and a full engagement of the international factor, prior and after the election day, would compose the guarantee for an honest electoral competition and a non contested voting result.
SPA offers chances and security to all.
It was Durres after Tirana into a protesting rally.
24 hours after Tirana, the socialist avalanche rolled down to Durres coastal town. "Ramazan Njala" indoor sport palace had never experienced such an atmosphere. For 45 minutes in succession the cheering for Socialist Party did not end. It is the same place, where an "imported" enthusiasm was provided to President Berisha. At a time that the President was escorted by some 80 cars from Tirana, socialist leaders were greeted and supported by Durres people and the socialist electorate.
Present in Durres rally were the top leaders of SPA and the local ones, as well as intellectuals and sympathizers of SP.
Some 4.000 people of Durres town, inside and outside the sport palace offered their support to the socialist leaders. Durres rally marks the start of the electoral campaign in this town.
"Our meeting, opened the rally the local socialist leader of Durres, Bardhyl Agasi, is not simply an electoral one. First of all, it is a protest rally against Berisha and his party, against those who pushed the country into such a catastrophe, hardly to be wiped out from nation's memory".
For the local socialist leader, the rally in Durres was a good coincidence to May 28 last year revocation, when the Socialist Party and other forces of the opposition commenced the greatest marching protest against the scandalous manipulations of May 26. May 28 of the previous year has marked the maltreatment, detention, the blood-shed from the real democrats, but, which has failed to kowtow the great will of this people for the real democracy.
It was SPA chairman, Fatos Nano, who took the floor, afterwards, among the undescribable enthusiasm of the participants. "We, Albanians, could have foreseen everything, but not this catastrophe, leaving the country without public order, without state, in chaos. And this, not because of our incapability, of the incapability of the new political class, but, because of immorality and unlimited evilness of Berisha's regime. The failed Berisha's policy tries to undervaluate and to drag after his cart of misfortune the all Albanian policy. DP's government incapability and corruption tries to put into a big question mark the capabilities of the present Albanian Government. The actual chaos, designed and realised through the propagandistic daily speeches of Berisha and his party aims to kill people's hope, Albanian's present and future. But, Berisha and his policy belong to the past, are completely and historically destined to fail, went on Mr. Nano
Albania, today, is confronted with lively dilemmas. We naturally wish the construction of democracy. We want a well-being and social protection for the Albanian people. We want the resolve of the national question. We want the natural integration of our country in Europe and in the Euro-Atlantic structures.
For more than one year we were led by an illegitimate parliament, which came out from the stolen votes of May 26, and by a Government and an elected President from this parliament, the democratic World did never recognize, because they were legitimate.
Despite of what has happened, we can state here that always Albania has managed to survive. The burden of the moment is heavy and the responsibilities great. Capacities, commitments are not lacking to SPA to be involved and to provide solutions to the dilemmas, which have grabbed the country. The Albanian crisis should end, by all means. SPA, together with the progressive forces and democratic World will hastily cope with it. Together will revive and realise the expectations and aspirations of the young and old people, of the unemployed and refugees, of the employers and employees, of the scholars and intellectuals and, above all. of our children, hopeless and dreamless of Berisha's regime.
Our electoral program incarnates the difficulties, the possibilities, as well, the argued and serious support, offered by the democratic World. Our motif for a normal Albania, conditioned by the actual drama, presupposes to be a safe and dignified motif to all the Albanians.
Berisha's regime disillusion should not be converted into a disillusion to democracy. SPA has been and remains faithful to a real democracy, which offers chances to all the Albanians and all the social categories.

Financial stability - savings, incomes and safe investments!
We will realise the rivatility of patriotism, of our national values and aspirations. The Albanians are Europeans!
There is only one possibility to Albania: to move forward to the Euro-Atlantic family!
It is quite clear that together with the other real democratic forces, SPA will better govern the country and will send it, with dignity, in the years 2000.
Albania's saving boat are only the free and honest elections and the democratic institutions of the National Reconciliation!", ended his speech SPA chairman, Fatos Nano, in Dures rally.
Then other socialist top leaders, like the General Secretary of the Party, Mejdani, the Secretary of Organisative Issues, Dokle, the Secretary of Foreign Relations, Lakrori, and other local leaders, delivered peaceful and victorious messages to the socialist electorate in Durres and to all the Albanian people.
