Excellency,
I wish, from my heart, the big victory of the French Socialist Party and I ensure You that this victory is a great valuable step, not only of the French socialists, but, of all the European socialists and other democratic and progressive forces in the continent and more over.
Allow me, Your Excellency, to express You, on this occasion, on behalf of the Albanian Socialist Party, our determination to further intensify the overall cooperation between our two sister-like parties, which would serve to the further strengthening of the traditional and historic relations between our two peoples and countries and to all the forces, which sincerely inspire peace and European integration.

SPA Chairmanship statement
Berisha and his clan try to convert Albania into a "burning ground"
On June 2-nd, 1997, in "Freskia" Bar-Cafe, at 12.40 hours a.m., exploded a powerful explosive matter, as a consequence of which were injured 20 clients of this bar, service employees, and it was destroyed to the ground the whole building.
The bomb, in the middle of Tirana, next to the Ministry of Defence and the main Residence of Socialist Party of Albania, in the preferable cafe of SPA members, sympathizers and leaders, is a criminal act, envisaged for two days in succession by pro Berisha's paper "Albania", against SPA chairmanship member and the State Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Lush Perpali.
Berisha and his clan, by feeling the approaching shameful end, try to convert Tirana and the whole Albania into a "burning ground". And, in realising this bloody goal, besides the so many years violence and terror exercised against the opposition and its leaders, now, they want to commit criminal acts without being recorded before in the country's history. By loosing ground in the political dialogue and as politician, Berisha is the main inspirer of the political crime against the political winners of the socialist opposition.
SPA chairmanship appeals directly to Berisha, as the inspirer, leader and organiser of the political crime in Albania, to withdraw from this macabre policy, of good for nothing policy to Albania, to the Albanian democracy and to Berisha, himself, not only as a President, but, simply as a human being, if any human or Albanian feeling has remained to him. He should order the withdrawal of his incriminated bandit groups. We appeal to him to abandon the terror scripts and political assassinations, which, for some time now, are cocked up and tested.
SPA appeals to the Albanian people, to the political parties, SPA and DP members and to those of the other parties, to be distanced from these criminals and severe crimes and to make their utmost to stop them threatening the life of any Albanians. Too many have been killed by Berisha's black hand from Tropoja to Saranda, from Korca to Vlora. Too many Albanians have been blooded within a short period of time. All of us are in need of peace and quietness, of free and fair elections!
Perpali in his statement after the hard incident
The State Secretary in the Interior Ministry, Lush Perpali, who is, at the same time, member of SPA chairmanship, states that "the question is for a bar, the property of my family. I have sold the house to construct that bar in order to keep up my family living, at a time that I was jobless.
There are political reasons in placing the bomb to its and blowing it up. Presumably, there are special circles which are interested to repeat another May 26 of the previous year, which are interested to steal Albanians' votes on June 29-th elections. They are interested to remove me from my position as the State Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, nominated by country's main political forces and not only by SP.
I publically confess that I will not remove from my working position and will be loyal to the law, by addressing June 29-th votes to the destination people have decided.
In the mean time, Mr. Perpali, had informed, before bomb explosion, police, guard troops' commander and raised charges against pro Berisha's paper, "Albania", which used to write for two days in succession about bomb explosion to Perpali's cafe. The reason was, according to the paper, that Perpali was the corner stone of the incident taking place in Cerrik between the Berisha's guard troops and the people of the town, in which were killed six people from the guard troops.
In his charge against "Albania" paper, Mr. Perpali used to prove, through facts, the spirit of violence and terror instigated by it.
SPA electoral rallies
Korce: We will reconstruct everything ruined by Berisha
SPA held its electoral campaign in Korca town Sunday morning supported by thousand of its members and sympathizers. The participants in the rally were confident to win what Berisha had denied them one year ago.
Present in the meeting were SPA leaders, local ones and the chairman of the party, Fatos Nano. In his speech, among other things, he talked about Korca's weight in policy, economy, culture and education.
Later on, he said that the overall unsatisfactory explosion, all over Albania, despite of its ways of approach, is a very precious experience to our new democracy, which transmits valuable messages for the present and for the future.
The people can not bare any more dictatorship and authoritarism. The people are looking for peace, for life, property, labour and justice guarantee.
Socialist Party is well aware of all these messages and our electoral program aims at meeting all these demands. We will reconstruct the state and its institutions. We will immediately re-establish order. We will reconstruct everything ruined by Berisha's regime".
Fushe-Kruje: United to the victory
The participants in the electoral rally held in Fushe-Kruje were greeted by Secretary General of SPA, Rexhep Mejdani, and other leaders. In his speech, Mejdani, underlined that "Berisha's dictatorship requires all of us to be united, to contribute in ensuring free and fair elections. Despite the continuous attempts on the part of special segments of Berisha's regime, our determination and that of all the progressive opposition, the overall international support are the main aspects in guaranteeing free and fair elections. People's free vote should be protected. That's why, I invite all of you to take part in the elections and to protect your votes".
