SPA Statement
We were acquainted with President Berisha assassination attempt in an electoral meeting in Shkallnur. Socialist Party, being distance from such kind of acts, reconfess its constant stand for political power alteration through free and fair elections. SPA condemns all of them who tempt to compromise the electoral campaign through schemes or sophisticated scripts, by trying to change the address of the causer of the crisis, chaos and the ruining of Albania.
SPA, determined and convinced in the victory, it will realise in June 29-th elections, has rendered and is continuously rendering its direct contribution or through the Prime Minister and its ministers in the Government of the National Reconciliation in stabilizing the situation and establishing order and peace in the country. By being part of March 9-th and May 9-th accords and by participating in the Reconciliation Government, SPA is materialising its philosophy of cooperation, mutual understanding and reconciliation, against the philosophy of ousting, confrontation and people's peaceful protests violent suppression.
This act and others, accompanied by bombs placing in the middle of Tirana, have tensed the pre electoral situation. Such kind of envisioned acts are carried out by these forces, which are leaving the political arena led by the strategy of the "burning ground". The people, through its free vote, will stigmatize the real authors of these acts.
SPA notices, at the same time, that by not lifting the state of emergency, as the electoral campaign is on, is another reason which instigates such acts and creates conditions for a terroristic climate. SPA appeals to the President of the Republic and to the Government of the National Reconciliation to take all the necessary measures to be distanced from the attempts of the political assassinations and to ensure peace and security during the electoral campaign. The political parties should render their contribution to realise a real social pact, at the foundation of which would be the lift of the state of emergency and an earlier closing of the vote procedures.
SPA warns out that this precedent may serve as a reason to start political assassination attempts against the main political figures. On this occasion, SPA reconfesses its distancing from such kind of irresponsible acts and it demands, the respective organisms, to take all the necessary measures to inhale the start of the political crime in Albania.
Primer Fino condemns Shkallnur incident
Regarding the severe incident, which took place during President's electoral visit in Shkallnur, in the vicinity of Durres town, the Albanian Prime Minister, Bashkim Fino, expresses his regrets and indignation on this dangerous incident. The Albanian Prime Minister communicated with President Berisha, by expressing him his regret on this hard incident. Such incidents, not only distort the peaceful electoral campaign climate in the country, but are accompanied with tragic consequences. The Prime Minister has asked the Interior Minister to report in detail on the event and a thorough investigation.
On this occasion, the Albanian Primer considers as important the realisation of a social pact between the political forces for holding, as much as possible, peaceful elections. He hopes that such events will make conscious Albanian political class to get rid of the strategy of offending, of militants' exchange of accusations, inherited by the communist regime, because of political and ideological passions. The Albanian Government wishes the presentation of the concrete developing alternatives, with the view to the democratic and prosperous future of Albania, will instead of the language of hatred.
Nano and Gjinushi in the European Socialist Party Congress
Under the invitation of the President of the European Socialist Parties, Rudolf Sharping, Albanian Socialist Party chairman, Fatos Nano, and the chairman of the Socialdemocratic Party of Albania, Skender Gjinushi, left for Malmo of Sweden to take part in the proceeding of the Third Congress of the European Socialist Parties.
The two leaders of the left wing parties were seen off at Rinas airport by other leaders of the respective parties.

Parliament Speaker should do his job
After a long hesitation, by violating the main constitutional provisions and the principals of the political ethic, the chairman of the People's Assembly Chairmanship, came, at least, to assemble parliament's chairmanship to discuss on the ten days request, that, me, in the position of the Prime Minister, have addressed to him. The request had to do with the assembling of the parliament into a special session to discuss on the suggestion for lifting the state of emergency in Albania.
Parliament's Speaker, violated, once again, the constitutional provisions, by deciding arbitrarily and partially in non assembling the parliament in its special session. Instead of doing his job, he tries to comment, makes irony, as if he jokes with the state institutions, when he states that Mr. Fino's request is met in the parliament's decision of May 13, "a decision, about which the Primer is not well informed". Further more, the speaker of the parliament and his colleagues of the DP, politicize the problem by speaking about the armed rebel committees "as the armed wing of the SP", and about the bomb terrorists. Such kind of statements are not serious stands, more over, when they come from politicians, who wish a peaceful electoral campaign.
As a Prime Minister of the Reconciliation Government, I have made several times clear the request, on behalf of the Government. This request consists in the will and overall and concrete commitment to create as much a better peaceful electoral situation. I stress, once again, my conviction that the lift of the state of emergency will be another element to revert Albanians' confidence to the free vote, by which they can express their preferences freely, out of any pressures.
At the same time, the Albanian Government has stated that the state of emergency, being limited only in the state of curfew, is converted into an abusive element used by destructive forces, which aim the setting up of the psychology of terror and fear.
The Decision, Number 309, of May 13, presented as a pretext not to assemble the parliament, is composed only of two lines, which says that "there are the competent organs to create the conditions of security to the political forces during the electoral campaign". Like this, this decision can not serve as an argument, because it is realised under the state of emergency, in which the commander of the operation could move the troops whenever and wherever he wishes.
That's why, I appeal once again to the Speaker of the People's Assembly to do his job and leave the parliament to decide itself, as it will consider more reasonable.
