![]() DocumentiSupport for the democratic forces of the opposition in Albania In its two days visit to Greece, the top Albanian Socialist Party delegation had high level negotiations with high Greek authorities. The cordial and friendly atmosphere was present in all the meetings, in which, the Greek top leaders, laid great expectations on free and democratic elections on June 29-th and offered their support for the Albanian progressive democratic forces. The Albanian Socialist Party delegation was received in special meetings by the Greek Prime Minister, Kostas Simits, by the Greek Minister of Defence and the deputy chairman of the Socialist International, Akis Cohacopulous, by top leaders of PASOK, by the chairman of the "New Democracy" party, Karamanlis, and other of its representatives, by the Democratic Left Coalition party, by the Mayor of Athens etc. After the presentation of the Albanian hard situation on the verge of the general elections, held by the chairman of Socialist Party of Albania, Nano, the interlocutors expressed their sympathy to the sufferings of the Albanian people and hoped for a better future after the elections. Mr. Simitis highly estimated the spirit of Socialist Party of Albania for dialogue and cooperation in the whole political developments in the country, by raising SPA in the level of the progressive left wing European parties. Mr. Simitis underlined the urgent necessity of the symbioses in the development of the democratic institutions with the economic development in the country. The Greek Primer hoped that democratic elections will take place on June 29-th. On behalf of the party he leads, Mr. Simitis wished Fatos Nano and the Albanian Socialist Party's victory in these elections. While, the Greek Minister of Defence, Cohacopulous, just arriving from a meeting of NATO's member countries and other ministers of Defence of the European countries in Brussels, told the Albanian delegation of Socialist Party that in NATO meeting was discussed on the multinational forces in Albania, on their effectiveness on securing roads and peace in the country, as a guarantee for free and fair elections. Another issue of great importance in the meeting of Cohacopulous with SPA representatives was the return of the Albanian immigrants to vote in Albania under a Greek government's permeation, with the right of going back to Greece under the condition of having the electoral seal in their i.d. document. At the same time, Mr. Cohacopulous confirmed his negotiations with the Italian Minister of Defence, Andreata, the commander of the multinational troops in Albania, on escorting the Albanian immigrants, who have to come from Greece and vote in Albania. As one of the top leaders of the International Socialist, Mr. Cohacopulous confirmed the support of this great international coalition to the progressive left forces in Albania and the strengthening of the relations of PASOK and SPA, which will lead to close relations between Greek and Albanian peoples. The leader of the opposition party of the "New Democracy", Mr. Karamanlis, in the meeting with the Albanian socialists representatives underlined the great possibilities of the cooperation between the two countries. He said that it is on the interest of our countries and peoples to hold free and democratic elections in Albania, with uncontested results. We will cooperate with the Government, which will come out of the general elections, said Mr. Karamanlis, by adding that we will give a special importance to the Albanian europianisation, because this is on the benefit of our two peoples and countries. Even the representatives of the Democratic Left Coalition or the Mayor of Athens, Mr. Avramopulous, wished closer relations between the two countries peoples and progress and prosperity in Albania after the overcome of the present general crisis. The Democratic Left Coalition wished the Albanian Socialist Party victory in June 29-th elections. Among the great enthusiasm of the participants, Mr. Nano addressed to them by speaking about the violated expectations of the Albanian people, the current Albanian situation, where DP officials put the country, the Socialist Party programs and alternatives, about the so much in need cooperation of the Albanians, about the Greek people assistance to them etc. Mr. Nano's speech was interrupted several times by the cheering of the present in the rally. Then, the rally was greeted by the member of the SPA chairmanship, Sabit Brokaj, who transmitted to the participants Vlora people's greetings, where he is candidating for the coming elections. While, SPA Secretary of Foreign Relations, Lakrori, considered June 29-th as the day of the great changes and invited all the Albanian immigrants to come and vote in Albania for the Socialist Party of Albania and for the progressive opposition. He expressed the gratitude to the Greek people and Government for their help and assistance to thousands of Albanian immigrants, forced to leave their motherland. Under the cheering for the Socialist Party, "Nano, Nano", "Europe, Help", "Greece, Greece", the member of the General Leading Committee of SPA, Theodhori Bej, greeted the participants in Greek. He spoke about the close relations between our two peoples, forged by Greek minority in Albania and Albanian immigrants in Greece. Only the surrounding, where the rally used to take place, was Greek, because the rally, itself, with the Albanian banners wavering and the slogans in Albania for the Socialist Party and Fatos Nano and, above all, the whole enthusiastic atmosphere and the spirit of protest against dictators and dictatorships, looked very much like the socialist party electoral atmospheres in the squares of Tirana, Vlora, Korca, Gjirokastra, Saranda, Dibra, the whole Albania. After one hour protest and support the rally dispersed without any incidents. This was the last tour of the Albanian socialist party delegation visit in Athens. It was produced by almost all the Greek electronic media. SPA ready for the social pact After the successful visits and the electoral rallies of the last week in Vlora, Saranda, Delvina, Permet, Tepelene, Memaliaj, Mallakaster, of the electoral group, headed by SPA chairman, Fatos Nano, and in Progradec, Prrenjas, Librazhd, Lac, Devoll, Maliq, Elbasan, Peqin, Peshkopi, Maqellare, Bulqize, Has, Kukes, Ulez, Burrel, Klos, Lezhe and Mamurras of the electoral group headed by the Secretary General of SPA, Rexhep Mejdani, we realize: Allover Albania, from North to South, from East to West, exist the appropriate conditions for holding the electoral campaign and the normal activity of the Constituency Electoral Commissions. Not any political parties has been inhaled to hold its electoral activity, through their candidates, their members and militants, by holding electoral meetings or rallies. Wherever the electoral campaign has been held without provocations, by transmitting mutual understanding and reconciliation messages, no incidents have taken place. From the information sources SPA possesses, in some electoral rallies of DP, there have taken place some incidents. The cause of these incidents have been presidential structures, which guard the President, who is leading an electoral campaign on behalf of the Democratic Party, full of offenses, threatening and political revenges. SPA, committed to free and fair elections of June 29, 1997, is ready to sign an integral social pact: In which, it has to be included the lift of the state of emergency, the holding of a peaceful electoral campaign, the reduce of the voting time limit into 18.00 hours, the processing of the voting results based on law, the confess of the free and fair voting results, the construction of the post electoral policy based on the spirit of cooperation, of the reconciliation, against political revenge, implemented through the foundation of a Government with as much as possible vast base of all the political forces. |
