Kucove: Everyone looks like swindler to the big swindler
Socialist Party of Albania has not just in vain aim this area for presenting its candidates for the general elections. Five years ago, SP had placed, as its own candidate in the 1992 general elections, the chairman of the party, Fatos Nano, who presented, afterwards, the people of this area in the People's Assembly, by being elected as the deputy. After his imprisonment, to experience the political revenge of Berisha, Socialist Party presented in this area the candidacy of Namik Dokle, one of the main political figures of the party.
While, for the elections of June 29-th this year, SPA offered to Kucova people the candidacy of the Prime Minister of the Reconciliation Government, the number one figure of the present Albanian state. The people of the area welcomed very much this candidacy for the good reputation he has created during this difficult period of the crisis in the country.
By introducing him to the people, the chairman of Socialist Party, Fatos Nano, among other things, said:
I have not come here, in Kucova, to make electoral campaign and to tell you for whom to vote. I have come here to see and meet each other, to discuss on the common problems. Sali Berisha, for 5 years in succession, ruled the country with the "strong hand", by grabbing our property and assets, votes and the money of the bread, put us into chaos and into the cross road our nation existence, isolated us from the World, bothered each of us so much. Even now, when the whole people tell him to disappear, because we do not like him, he continues to provoke, to tension the situation, to sabotage, by all means, including the terroristic manoeuvres, the holding of June 29-th elections. But Kucova, Kukesi, Vlora, Shkodra, Gjirokastra, Dibra, Tirana, Tropoja, Kavaja and the whole Albania are ready for June 29-th elections and they will join them.
Sali Berisha has invented, these last days and repeats in the electoral rallies, as he usually does, that SP tries to cheat the people in this electoral campaign. Poor Berisha, looks at us with his optic glasses. To the big swindler, everyone looks like a swindler.
But, on the other side, he knows that SPA is a serious party, well prepared, capable and responsible for everything it confesses and promises. The people can not bare anymore Government's fraud. They have decided, so far, to construct Albania without Sali Berisha.

Fino's address to his electorate
In his address to the electorate of Kucova, among other things, the Primer, Fino, said:
I accepted to place my candidacy, on behalf of Socialist Party, in Kucova, because:
I respect the ancient civilisation of this area, the working spirit and the intellectual view of the people here, your culture and behaving in the course of history;
I can see Kucova's perspective in the core of Albania, supported by the rich nature and hard working people;
I am a financier and economy is my great concern and together, we will open up a lot of possibilities to Kucova and its people.
I have not come here to invite you through promising. Let those promise who are used to. Your great concerns are for new roads, for infrastructure, for putting into efficiency the oil enterprises, the repairing of the irrigation system, for credits and investments, controlled immigration and numerous other social problems, which expect to be resolved.
I assure your for one thing: Bashkim Fino will be here, among you.
You are assembled today here because you are for democracy, you are for the freedom, peace and security, because you want a state to be with you and for you, because you love Albania like your family, because you love Kucova like the whole Albania.
We would like to change the present and guarantee the future. We like to have a normal Albania, for the whole Albanians. The future of Albania will go through the national reconciliation.
Our emergent program aims public order and peace, putting into operation state administration, especially, the economic sector. We are for a social market economy, for private property and encouraging political economy, for foreign and domestic investments.
Our country has attracted more than ever the attention of the international organisms, of the European Union, of OSCE, of the Council of Europe and of the whole other countries, member of these organisms. Unites States of American, as the most distinguished democratic country of the World, are very sensible towards our move to the real democracy. The International Conference on the Albanian Economic and Institutional revive, which will take place in Rome after June 29-th elections in Albania, will be like a "Martial Plan" for our country. IMF, WB and other international institutions, EU, USA and other European states, the neighbouring countries, like Italy, Greece, Turkey, with which the Government of the National Reconciliation has had preliminary official talks, have guaranteed their overall participation and assistance to our country.
European and USA stands towards our country show their confidence and respect for our people's aspiration to be integrated into the European family.
We, the Albanian socialists, are for democracy, peace and Europe.

On June 16-th, 1997, at 10.30 hours, some 500 meters far from the place called Cela Pass, in Puka direction, an armed bandit group has ambushed and opened fire against the car, in which used to drive the General Secretary of Socialist Party, Prof. Doc. Rexhep Mejdani and the member of the General Leading Committee of the SPA, the journalist, Bektash Zeneli. At least, five bullets have shot the car directly and have penetrated up to the seats, fortunately being saved people's lives.
This unprecedented act is in the course of the warned political crimes, being organised by incriminated segments of Berisha administration, which tries to tension the situation and to sabotage the June 29-th general elections. This terroristic act is organised after numerous successful activities held by SPA, like in Diber, Bulqize, Burrel, Lezhe, Has, Kukes, Maqellare, Klos, Lac and Fushe-Kruje etc., aiming to create the idea of the lack of North support to SPA and the split between the Albanians.
SPA victory is assured, despite of the criminal acts of Berisha's administration segments, being incarnated in the Presidential guard troops, or those included into Celo's structures of the state of emergency, or of the mercenaries led by Agim Shehu and Sokol Mulosmani, being formulated in killing and terroristic appeals of Genc Pollo and Azem Hajdari.
SPA demands the Reconciliation Government to capture the criminals and place them in front of justice.
