It was held in Rome, in Sant' Egidio Community Residence, the ceremony of the common statement signature, among some political parties of Albania, for the elections of June 29. 1997 and the responsibility of the country after the polls, in the presence of the top representatives , Italian Minister of Defence, Beniamino Andreata, and a great number of ambassadors, accredited in Rome and representatives of italian and international press as well.
For the socialist and social democratic coalition signed the chairmen, Fatos Nano and Skender Gjinushi, while for "Union for Democracy" signed DP chairman Tritan Shehu, for"Albanian Right Union",RP chairman,Sabri Godo, RDP chairman Petrit Kalakula and "Balli Kombetar" deputy chairman, Hysen Selfo participated, but did not sign the document.
During the ceremonies in Sant' Egidio, SPA chairman, Fatos Nano held special talks with the Italian Minister of Defence, Beniamino Andreata, with the chairman of Deputy House of Republic of Italy, Luciano Violante, with a number of foreign ambassadors accredited in Rome and gave several interviews.
The authorities of the Government and Italian Republic Parliament, in these meetings reconfirmed all its support for the crisis solution and the holding of correct elections on 29 June in Albania, and other new serious engagements to cooperate in all the fields with the Government and the Parliament of the Republic of Albania after the polls on the institutional and economic reconstruction of the country and its integration in Europe.
The ceremony and Fatos Nano' meets, chairman of SPA were held in an warm,friendly, open and constructive spirit.

SPA statement
Unacceptable action for any politician
Pressure and forbidden to hold the electoral campaign in Sarande to Leonard Demi, is an unacceptable action towards any kind of politician.
SPA estimates as completely irresponsible DP statement. Disorientated by the deep loss on the 29 June polls by the majority of the albanian electorate, DP top leaders seek to justify reaction towards their policy with false accuses addressed to SPA leaders.
SPA, analysing with calm,DP statement is obliged to declare that it is neither Fatos Nano nor Gramoz Ruci, implicated in the event occurred in Sarande, but Berisha with his clan, known as the ideators and executors of violence and criminal acts against the opposition and intellectuals.
SPA rejects the accuses on instigation or organisation of the violence acts. SPA expresses its regret for the incident in Saranda.
SPA rests consequent to its principled stand for the real social pact reach, including not only the pre electoral period but even the poll day, the acceptance of the final results, and the respect of understanding and cooperation principles after the election period through a governing with a vast social bases.
On this occasion, SPA makes appeal to all the albanians, be cold headed and avoid provocations of an incident to fully realise 29 June polls, the victory of the great change.

The 29 June polls are at the doorstep. We are to vote for Socialist Party and opposition, turning 29 June to the happiest day of our new history.We will enter the polls with the responsibility for life, looking forward to the future. All of us do deserve a better life, you parents, us, sisters and brothers, and all the children you are holding in the arms as a symbol of the future.
The albanian, in the city or village, in the mountains or fields, educated or old of age, has a history in his soul. He bears the troubles and hidden dreams , the desire for the future. Thus we are to vote on June 29. We are to vote for Socialist Party candidates as the confidence for a better life.
Within a week we will to go the polling box, together with our refugee brothers, in Italy, Greece and elsewhere, to be joined together for the benefit of Albania, our beloved fatherland.
* We are to vote for a better day,without weapons and victims.
* We will vote for peace and security, ourselves and Albania.
* We are to vote for job, property and prosperity.
* We are to vote for justice, equality before law and freedom.
* We are to vote for Socialist Party:
To change the present and guarantee the future,
For a normal Albania for all the albanians.
We want to open a new page for the albanians, the page of the common responsibility for the country and the albanian political coexistence.
Your vote on June 29 is the vote for development, free market and export, pro production, pro privatisation, pro investment, is the vote for property and initiative.
Your votes are for a transparent governing, against corruption and clandestinity.

We shall win, for we are the new force with a new vision - with the eyes to Europe, with the people's aspirations for freedom and democracy.
We are the force that do not play with the army and order, with the state and courts, with the freedom of the individual and the justice of society.
