Subject [HaCkmEeTiNg] fuck europe, we are mediterranean 

re all!

great idea to join efforts in organizing "something like the
hackmeeting, but not only italian". i'm with you all.

and i have a first comment to do, hoping that a discussion will spawn
out of it: fuck european, let's talk about mediterranean.

i'm an italian emigrated into north europe and i think that in italy,
culturally speaking, we have more things in common with ppl living in
north africa than with austrians, i think europe is just a weak myth
driven by economical interests and that there's no common ground into
it: this does'nt means that we should kick out other cultures, but i
feel really in the need of hacking this "european brand" within the
definition of the mediterranean culture, starting from what we are
planning to do.

furthermore, because of economical wellfare in northern europe, there
are plenty of so called "LAN parties" or congresses or happenings, of
course all sponsored and in which i've been invited sometimes: the
first thing i allways noted was that i was _the only_ (or in best
cases, one of the _very few_) mediterranean person being involved into
it, the second thing is that they had _lots_ of money from various
institutions and companies for doing what they were doing, the third
is that all that was'nt funny like the hackmeeting and it was'nt
really spawning a brotherood like the hackmeeting community is.

the mediterranean area, economically speaking, is a desaster, but we
are used to arrange everything without money and i think this should
be a peculiarity of such an hackmeeting: autofinanciation and
autoorganization should keep on as in the italian hackmeeting being
the only sources for it. only in this way we would be doing something
new and really needed in our scene, otherwise it would be
yet-another-lan-party in which ppl with tech gathers up tech in a
place where there's allready tech ready to connect all that tech and
there's really not much to hack, just plug'n'play, IMHO.

AFAIK we are here from spain, france and italy, maybe somebody from
netherlands... it would be really great to collaborate in organizing
such happenings right in the mediterranean area, in the south of our
small occidentalized world with all the difficulties and handicaps
connected with that, a real engagemend wich would have a deep meaning
in a social contest and moreover in a technical contest as long -
trust me ppl - there's a real lack of technology in the south and to
make something compute down there, that's what i call hacking ;)
